Construction Accidents: Investigations & Reports
Construction is one of the primary vocational industries leading in personal injuries and fatalities. Slip/trip and fall and struck-by incidents are far too high, resulting in statistics that are alarming. D.A. Doddridge is specialized in the investigation of the cause of construction injuries and fatalities. Our study and forensic analysis techniques are deployed by engineers using the most accurate technology available, and supplement our findings with expert reports on cause and effect of given construction accidents. Our engineers are fluent in OSHA safeguards, as well as national and international building and health codes designed to protect the worker.
- Construction fatalitiesIn 2023, construction and extraction workers had the second highest number of fatalities, with 1,056 deaths. This was behind transportation and material moving occupations, which had 1,620 deaths.
- Causes of construction fatalitiesThe top four causes of construction fatalities are falls, struck-by, caught-in/between, and electrocutions.
- FallsFalls are the leading cause of death in construction because many construction projects involve working at heights. Workers are exposed to a higher risk of falling when using ladders, elevated platforms, and scaffolding
D.A. Doddridge is dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of the US workforce, ensuring that they can do their jobs without unnecessary worry or concern for their health and well-being.
Construction Accidents
Of 4,779 worker fatalities in private industry in calendar year 2018, 1,008 or 21.1% were in construction — that is, one in five worker deaths last year were in construction. The leading causes of private sector worker deaths (excluding highway collisions) in the construction industry were falls, followed by struck by object, electrocution, and caught-in/between. These “Fatal Four” were responsible for more than half (58.6%) the construction worker deaths in 2018, BLS reports. Eliminating the Fatal Four would save 591 workers’ lives in America every year (OSHA).
